I will always remember Gagne blowing away his competition during the skills competition when he was weaving in and out of those cones. Me, wearing my Lindros jersey had several people in the stands asking me who this Simon Gagne player was. I was so proud that we wore the orange.
Like you, I can't wait to get my Gagne/Lightning jersey.
Good luck Simon!
PS-I'm selfish and am still holding on the the hope that our Flyers will go after Gagne in free agency next summer.

Re: An ode to you, Simon Gagne: a Philadelphia idol

I'll never forget how amazingly cool Simon was to my then 6 year old son, who had just recently started playing hockey. We were at the Flyers' Carnival and after getting Gagne's autograph, my son gave Gagne one of his mite team "trading cards" from his team pictures. Simon played it off as though it was the coolest thing in the world to get a card from him. He told Brandon to always try hard and have fun, and genuinely wished him luck with a wink and a smile for dad. Nicest sports figure I've EVER met.

Re: A Trip to Prospect Camp 2010

No Erik Gustafsson today? Save the even worse Boogaard signing, this is easily the leading candidate for "Biggest Waste of Space/Money/Time/Effort/Hating on Arron Asham" award this offseason. And I <3333333333333 Asham too, so right there with you Andy.

I like the Meszaros trade, simply because he's gonna look great in a supporting role. I think Coburn got too much, because he's still raw, but Meszaros is a nice insurance policy, and is mobile to boot.

The Sean O'Donnell signing is great. Anybody who can help groom the likes of Carle, Coburn, Bourdon, Marshall, and the other young blueliners coming up through the system is a welcome sight in my eyes.

Re: An idea for next year’s sweaters……..

Rossi, this was is genius great stuff. Ive never really been a fan of old school jerseys making a comeback but i dont mind the flyers, its pretty sick. I did enjoy the black jerseys when they first came out, it was something different. The original black one was my favorite, once the rbk edge remake hit i didnt like it as much. Before the rbk edge remake of the jerseys, i loved the style the flyers had, maybe im biased cuz i grew up with it but it was solid. I wouldnt mind seeing this beauty come back http://espn.go.com/media/nhl/2... minus the whole eric lindros thing. I also loved the 3-d third jersey they had for a few years, i really wanted a scottie upshall one, but they changed stylers and traded him too fast before i could buy one. If u have anymore ideas let me know.

I'd be happy to subscribe! As for the Listener Mailbag segment...thats an awesome idea. My only problem is trying to come up with ONE thing to mention! lol there's so much! For some reason the main thing that jumps out to me to mention is the depth of our team. The fact that the teams like the Penguins and the Capitals have their big names like Crosby and Ovechkin, and we don't have BIG names...but we have widespread scoring. We've got Richards, we've got Breire, we've got Giroux, JVR, Hartnell...(you get my point lol) all high point contributors. It makes for some very good lines and gives more options for lines (as proven by the recent line-shake-up that had awesome results). Thats more of an "in general" topic though, not game specific. Oh, that and the fact that the past 4 Flyers that have had birthdays on game nights, have scored at least once that game, and how good Carcillo has been doing all around. (Like I said, I can't pick just one lol) Looking forward to the podcast! GO FLYERS!

Re: Flyers embark on another trip to the West, kick off with new-look Flames

They're coming. I like the new lines. Shanking things up like that every now and then gives the team a fresh feeling that has proven to make results. As for the Flyers homestand, I agree with the "semi-sucessful" comment. It wasn't BAD...but it could have been better. Great report. Wondering when I'm gonna be seeing the podcasts mentioned last month?!?! lol. Especially with the flurry of calls against them early in the third.

Richards and Hartnell are still taking too many shifts where they stand around and do nothing. I'd like to see someone take a game off to send a message, and maybe let Pyorala get a game. He has been fine for the first two years, but his play has been uninspired this year, and he seems immature. For a franchise that has had some great leaders, to see the captain acting childish and dishing out giveaways in the neutral zone is a bit saddening, and it might be time for a change somewhat. I thought last night's game was a great example. Richards just looked lazy and uninterested in a game the Flyers needed to win to take advantage of their homestand and erase a couple of bad losses. Stuff like that drives me crazy, and while it might not be time to completely write him off, some pressure needs to be put on him.

Re: Mike Richards is the leader of this team, but is it a little too soon for him?

Can you justify your thoughts on why you think he's a good captain?
